Celebrating My 90th Birthday: A Night to Remember
After celebrating my 90th birthday in Charleston, South Carolina and another in Savannah, Georgia, again on a cool and memorable evening, my elder son Dobin, with the enthusiastic assistance of my grandson Jaz, hosted a splendid celebration for my 90th birthday in his house in Warrenton, Virginia. The gathering was intimate, with close friends and family coming together to mark this special milestone in my life.
The morning began with an extraordinary surprise from my grandson Jaz who presented me a iPhone. Jaz’s thoughtful gesture in gifting me this left me deeply touched. It was not just a phone but a token of love that I will always cherish.
The celebration moved to a well-planned dinner party. The evening started with a variety of drinks, catering to everyone’s preferences, from classic cocktails to refreshing mocktails. The cheerful clinking of glasses and lively conversations set the perfect tone for the event.
As we sat down for the sumptuous dinner, the table was adorned with a spread that could rival any feast. The aroma of the delicious dishes was enough to make everyone’s mouth water. Each bite was a reminder of the effort and love Dobin and Jaz had poured into making this celebration unforgettable.
A highlight of the evening was the arrival of a fabulous birthday cake, lovingly brought by our neighbor, Pat. As everyone sang the birthday song, I cut the cake amidst applause and cheers, feeling immensely grateful for the love surrounding me.
The grand finale came with the opening of a bottle of champagne. With glasses raised high, I gave a heartfelt toast, thanking everyone for making the evening so special. The sound of popping champagne and the effervescent bubbles mirrored the joy and excitement in the room.
As the night came to a close, I couldn’t help but reflect on the blessings in my life—an incredible family, wonderful friends, and countless memories. This 90th birthday will forever hold a special place in my heart, thanks to Dobin, Jaz, and all those who made it unforgettable. But all the time, I was missing my younger son Lak who could not join the celebrations due to some urgent commitment in Florida.
