PrithiJit Singh Vohra (aka Prithi) , belongs to a family who has served loyally and faithfully in Indian Defence Forces for overhundred and fifty years. Born on January 9, 1935, he joined the Indian Army in 1957, following the family traditions after graduating in Science from N.Wadia College, Pune (University of Poona) and reached to the rank of Colonel with responsibility as the chief material manager of an establishment having over 4000 personnel,
Inventory management of over 80,000 items and value in excess of US$ 2500million. In this capacity, the functional responsibility included receipt, storage, issue, accounting, repairs and disposal of wide range of sophisticated stores including electronics and wireless stores/generators, compressors etc. He also took active part in 1965 as well as 1971 Indo-Pakistan wars.
Prithi’s experience also includes specialization in administration, construction and maintenance of camps, organization of civil services and amenities; Data processing, system design, programming and management information systems: Management of large Workshops, transportation and related logistics and planning activities of a very large fleet of over 500 vehicles. He has expertise in plastic processing and recycling of plastic waste and vast knowledge in the manufacturing of PVC rigid pipes of various sizes and pressure.
He has qualified in Hotel Management programme conducted by ITC LTD NewDelhi; Specialized Managerial Training Course in Industrial Management conducted by Ministry of Industry, Government of India; Automatic Data Processing Course conducted by Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta and Advanced training programme on use of Computers in Business conducted by Conrad Adenauer Foundation of Germany. Prithi is well conversant with Microsoft Office, Web designing and Power Point presentations.
Prithi is a Rotarian. and a Charter member of the Rotary Club of Chandigarh Shivalik. (District3080) India. He held important appointments in Rotary like Director Club Services, Director International Services, Vice President and President. He led the club as President in 1998-99 and got Nine awards including Rotary International President Rtn. Jim Lacy’s prestigious citation for outstanding Club Participation in all avenues of service and District Governor Dr. Gulshan Thakral’s Special award for serving the community with distinction and another award for ascending the path of service for a project on Computer Training to the handicapped. During his tenure as a President, Prithi got 28 Projects executed for the weaker section of the community. He is a widely traveled person, having visited England, France, Romania, Austria, Hungary, Greece, Canada, Caribbean Islands, Nepal and Mexico to mention a few. Prithi also visited the vast land of USA fourteen time.
His hobbies include reading, playing golf. He is fond of writing and was on the editorial board of the prestigious Chandigarh Golf Club Magazine “MASHIE & NIBLICK” for twelve years in succession. He was the editor of his Rotary club magazine and the first one in the Rotary District to start club Information on line which was read in 27 countries of the world.
Prithi belongs to a well knit, God fearing Sikh family and happily married to Sardarni Jasbir Kaur (Aka Guddi). He has two sons-Baljit Vohra (Aka Dobin) and Lakhinder Vohra (Aka Lak). He is also blessed with one lovely grand son Jasmehar Vohra (Aka Jassu)
