Lexington, Virginia, is the seat of Washington and Lee University (founded as Augusta Academy in 1749) and the Virginia Military Institute (VMI; founded 1839), a town rich with history, charm and natural wonders. Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Shenandoah Valley, its bustling downtown offers unique restaurants, artisan shops and galleries. I along with my eldest son Baljit and younger Lakhinder went visited this historical place on Friday November 06, 2020 and returned back to Warrenton on Sunday November 08, 2020.
Having reached Lexington late in the evening after visiting the town, stayed in Hotel Comfort Inn – Virginia Horse Centre which provided Complimentary hot breakfast, indoor pool, WiFi in rooms and close to Virginia Horse Centre.
Next day after breakfast, we visited historical places like Stonewall Jackson’s house, his Memorial Cemetery and Virginia Military Institute.
We left for Roanoke in the evening, a town famous for a 100-foot high star atop a mountain and visible from miles around which welcomes you to the “Star City of the South,” a great beginning for your weekend getaway to this city rich in culture, history, fun and entertainment.
